Tiwa Savage, the first and still the only female PEPSI ambassador in Africa is one of the biggest afropop artists. She came to the consciousness of most Nigerians in 2010 when she released her infectious smash hit Kele Kele Love in early 2010. She has since released hits after hits including, Oyi Remix, Ife Wa Gbono, Eminado with millions of views online.
Tiwa was born & bred in Lagos, Nigeria. And graduated from the University of Kent in the U.K. with a degree in business administration. Armed with the degree, Tiwa continued to pursue her first love, and when she got the call to sing backup for Mary J. Blige— decided to forego accounting to focus on music full-time.
As a backup singer, Tiwa Savage has worked and toured with international acclaimed artists such as George Michael, Mary J. Blige, Blu Cantrell, Kelly Clarkson, Emma Bunton to name a few.
In 2006 she participated in the UK’s X-Factor and made it to the Top 24. After her X-Factor exit Tiwa enrolled at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. from which she graduated in 2007. Since 2007 she has worked with producers such as RedOne, Oak Felder, Harvey Mason, Babyface and many more
An avid songwriter since the age of 15, Tiwa Savage is signed to Sony ATV as a songwriter. She co-wrote the track “Collard greens and Cornbread” on Fantasia’s Grammy nominated album “Back to me”, Monica’s “Catch Me” on her “New Life” album, Chrisette Michele’s “Couple of Forevers” Just to name a few. She also has background vocal credits on Whitney Houston’s album “I look to you.”
In December 2011 she co-hosted Nigerian Idol Season II the famous idol franchise alongside Illrymz and acted alongside Nollywood heavyweights Joke Silva and Ireti Doyle in the stage adaptation of “For Coloured Girls”.
In early 2012, 323 Entertainment teamed up with Super producer Don Jazzy’s label Mavin Records and was featured on the label’s debut compilation album. Tiwa Savage is now pronounced the 1st Lady of the Mavin Records
Recently After her debut album, which was the Most anticipated album “Once Upon A Time”. She bagged another endorsement from Africa’s Telecom Giant Company “MTN” and oil and gas company Forte Oil.
Tiwa Savage has shown that her brand is not limited to just music, she made her TV debut in the 2013 MTV Shuga drama series as she played one of the lead roles “Sade”. This was also a part of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation which serves to educate young adults about Healthy Sexual Relationship. She also debuted her 1st talk show on Ebony Life Networks called the “Banky and Tiwa Show” alongside Banky W
In an interview in 2010 Tiwa Savage expressed that, she has learned that having a full life means fusing all aspects of it—from music, acting to business and charity. To that end she has been involved in youth empowerment and breast cancer screening projects.
